A story about a 50cc scooter rider.

Below you find links to various blogs. Feel free to visit my blogs regularly because there will be updates posted. The links are placed between 2 lines like:  “-link-“

In 1996 i bought my first scooter. It was a Peugeot SV50. The color of the scooter was black. At the time,  the scooter began his re-entry and  the mopeds slowly disappeared. Many are still riding the moped  49,9cc because they have the love for a moped as a hobby.

Eventually the scooter gain more and more ground and eventually  it replaced the moped compledly. Now a days people ride scooters 50cc and moped scooter 25cc.

Since I did not had a photo camera, I have no pictures of that time and therefore i took some pictures of the internet. This type of scooter was my first.

Some time later i had an alarm system installed. The transmitter had a range of over 500 meters. It had a nice gadget like starting the scooter from a distance. These type of alarm systems were new on the market and expensive to buy. It was not a luxury to have because several times they tried to steal the scooter. Fortunately without success.

My second scooter, was the successor of the SV 50,  the Elyseo. A great improvement on all fronts. The Elyseo had disc brake on the front wheel and drum brake at the rear. The handling was formidable. In volumes, the Elyseo was quite large for a 50cc scooter.

It turned out that this type of scooter was very suitable for long tours. The space under the bodyseat was enormous and together with the extra topcase, there was enough storage to do the shopping for a whole week. After 15,000 km I had the Elyseo exchanged for a new scooter. Again the successor of the Elyseo. This time it had disc brake on the front wheel, but also at the rear wheel.

After 2 Elyseo’s i decided to buy the successor the Elystar with fuel injection system. It had many new updates. It became the best scooter of Peugeot but it turned out that the injection system was not reliable. Therefore the first series had an free update via Peugeot warranty period. They changed the injection back into carburettor and all problems where solved. I bought this scooter 2ehand.

Its headlight was a real eye catcher with city lights and turn signals built in. The main light was excellent. A real spotlight. The best I've ever experienced.

Also the cockpit was complete. It had everything a cockpit needs.

The disk brake on the rear wheel was an duo brake systeem. Together with the front disk brake, the Elystar had the best and most powerfull brake systeem people could wish for.

I've learned a lot over the years and now i am able to do the standard maintenance myself. It save a lot of money in my purse.

Afters a few mounths i had enough of Peugeot and wanted to try something else. I bought a complete different type of scooter. It became a Kymco GrandDink also a 50cc scooter. After many years driving a Peugeot. . . . . with the GrandDink. . . .  a new era started in my life as 50cc scooter driver.
